GAMBIT: FROM THE MARVEL VAULT #1
Written by SCOTT LOBDELL
Penciled by GEORGE TUSKA
Cover by DAVID YARDIN

X-Man Gambit joins the Champions to take down the Mental Organism Designed Only For Killing! From those halcyon days gone by when the Champions were L.A.’s premier super-team comes this amazing assemblage featuring: Ghost Rider, the Black Widow, Angel, Remy LeBeau and the demi-god Hercules! The Champions are in a desperate race to stop the malevolent MODOK from coming into possession of the Scroll of Vishota. With such a parchment in your control, world domination is but moments away. Looks as if the ragin’ Cajun showed up just in time!

Great cover! I'm a big Hercules fan and have found that the Champions were a great Marvel team; they should put together a mini-series for this group.

Small question, why did you have Angel with the mace instead of Hercules, since that was his weapon of choice?

I'm looking forward to this, just to see the Champions again and to see how Gambit fits in.

Are you doing any interior work in the future? Your covers are always amazing!

Thanks. I did the weapons to match the interior art I was given as reference. I'm going to be doing some interiors again soon, just waiting on scripts.

Yeah definitely the best Iceman I've seen in a while. Hope you get a chance to draw him again in a bigger shot. Very cool (pun intended :aww: )

My Iceman is heavily influenced by Whilce's Iceman on his X-Factor run, and yeah I've drawn him bigger a few times now.

Oh cool, I see some of Jim Lee's Iceman there too. Those were some great X-men runs you're channeling there my friend.
I'll have to go through your gallery again to find those Iceman pics :D

Or Gambit even  ... although Gambat would make a good mash-up character ... I can see him kinetically charging up his Batarangs now.

reminds me of the good ol days of the classic superhero stories i enjoyed reading the most...

I think you draw the best gambit since jim lee and the lee weeks mini series. like the cold ice effect on iceman too.

Really? His angles broke more ground than 90% of all the other artist's I've seen drawing for marvel.

Angles or gambit? As i said hes a great artist. Hes inspired me to storyboard after seeing his work on the Matrix. So yes he has great angles, and storytelling, though i believe we were speaking about gambit lol :).

Hey man, it looked like his work was set free when he drew gambit. The only thing better than him charging a deck of cards on Gladiator was when he spit that gum in x-cutioner's face.

That's the vibe I was going for, that's what I got into comics for, but there doesn't seem to be much of that good old, classic, superhero action feel around these days... to me anyway. Lots of writer focussed, talking head stories stretched thin over 6 issue arcs.

BTW Dude I ALWAYS channel that Lee/Portacio/Williams Uncanny 267 rendition while drawing Gambit.

i agree. some talking head stories are good, but when they are dragged out, and not enough superhero action things get boring. i think thats what is missing. If im to gripe some more, i also dont like how all the titles get renamed every six months. i have no clue whats happening in the marvel universe anymore lol.

it works well man.

Yeah there are some good stories... but nothing is exciting me right now. The renaming/renumbering is a real problem. I understand the short term goals of it, but it's confusing as hell.
