X-Men Legacy 259 50th Annv Var by davidyardin X-Men Legacy 259 50th Annv Var by davidyardin
I was asked to base this variant cover on one of Adi Granov's Iron Man covers. Pencils and Photoshop all by me after Adi's layout of course.

Very cool coloring on this one you did David. Looks a bit different from your usual style. I like it!

I don't think I coloured it that different, I did do tonal pencils though, so that's maybe it.

I thought it looked familiar. I'm glad you help my memory.

Nice job! I really like your shapes with the color rendering/painting. Especially in the cape!

Thanks Bill. A lot of the tonal rendering was actually done in pencil.

Well it certainly worked well. Pencil can be easier to control sometimes than just watercolor, etc. Certainly Adi Granov has proved that. Nice that we get so many choices these days.

Yeah I was tossing up between pencil and watercolour on this. Speaking of choices, I'm interested in seeing how that new Wacom Inkling works.

Yeah, I saw that. Some say why not just scan your sketches, unless it easily converts to vector or something.

Could be handy for sketches/drawing where you don't keep the paper.

Apparently it does vector & bitmap, and you can makes layers on the fly too. From what I've seen I think it also stores your drawing so you can draw and then upload to computer later, which is handy if you're not near your computer while you're sketching.

I knew it was a Granov cover, nice conversion, great cape!
A bit too muscley for old timer Magneto, imo. For someone who uses his mind rather than his muscles he looks too much like a cage fighter.

Thanks. I view the "ripped muscles" as being the suit that he has formed with his powers, underneath I don't think he is ripped at all.
