Devious Journal Entry

Tue Mar 31, 2009, 6:10 PM
Just got back from Melbourne Supanova late on Monday night, no thanks to all the flight delays to Sydney. Melbourne put on some good weather for us that weekend, and the con was quite busy. My commission list pretty much filled up for the whole weekend within the first 5 minutes on Saturday, so I was pretty much just sketching all weekend. I also got to hang out a lot with my mentor Whilce, and his wife Joann, that weekend. I wish we didn't live on the opposite sides of the world, because Whilce and Joann really are like family.

The only bad thing about the con was how hot it was in the main room, and the noise levels from the wrestling ring and the Singstar booth. It also sucked I didn't really get a chance to fully check out the con floor... but I'll make sure I free up some time to do that in Brisbane.

Speaking of Brisbane, I will be a guest at the Supanova Expo up there this weekend. As I mentioned earlier my commission list did fill up early, so if you want a sketch in Brisbane, get to my table early to avoid disappointment. As I said earlier I won't be at Sydney or Perth Supanova's this year, nor will I be doing any Free Comic Book Day events, so it will probably be your last chance to catch me in Australia this year. I have had a lot of people asking me if I will be at Armageddon Expo in Melbourne this year too, but at this stage no I won't be there. If Bill and crew ask me down as a guest and it fits in with my work schedule, then I may go down, but at this stage I haven't made any plans to attend. If you want me there (or any other guest for that matter), then you should probably make requests to them.

You guys also seemed to like the Ms Marvel piece I did last week (almost went straight to #1 in my gallery)... since uploading it I've been bombarded with A LOT of messages, faves and work requests which I'll start replying to, when I get back from Brisbane. I'll also upload the pencils and inks, and go through a bit of the work process for that piece too, next week.

  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: Blackstreet
  • Reading: Path of the Assassin #14 (thanks to flight delays)
  • Watching: My weight
  • Playing: No time for playing
  • Eating: Crap... need to get back on the healthy stuff
  • Drinking: Water
